HONEST BY DESIGN

NitroHUD has no speed-limit database and never pretends to know the legal limit - every alert threshold is one you typed in. The speed comes from your device's GNSS receiver, and when reception is poor the app says so instead of inventing a number. It is a driver information aid, not a certified speedometer, and it is no substitute for your car's own instruments or for your attention on the road.

WHY GPS SPEED DIFFERS FROM YOUR CAR

Car speedometers are required by law to read at or above true speed, so most of them over-read a little. GPS measures ground speed and usually lands closer to the truth - but it depends on satellites, which is why the accuracy figure is always on screen.

PRIVACY

Your location is used on the device to work out speed, distance, heading and altitude. It is never uploaded - we run no server that could receive it. There is no analytics SDK, no ad SDK, no crash reporter and no advertising ID. The app asks for location only while it is open: there is no background location permission and no foreground service, so tracking stops when you leave the app.

SUBSCRIPTION

PRO is an auto-renewing subscription with weekly, monthly and yearly plans, each starting with a 3-day free trial where Google Play offers it. The current price is shown inside the app and on Google Play in your own currency. It renews until you cancel, and you can cancel any time in Google Play > Subscriptions - cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends to avoid being charged.

SAFETY

Set everything up before you drive. Mount the phone so it does not block your view of the road and cannot come loose. Never operate the phone while the vehicle is moving. Use the timing tools on a closed road or track, never in traffic.
